Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, prioritizing dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility) with patience and respect
- Monitor residents’ condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly and accurately
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure hydration and nutritional needs are met
- Maintain clear, timely documentation of care and observations
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families to create a warm, reassuring environment
- Follow infection control, safety procedures, and facility policies to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- GNA certification or state-equivalent credential (required or preferred depending on state regulations)
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfortable working with older adults and individuals with complex care needs
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to resident-centered care
- Willingness to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED recommended; GNA certification or completion of an approved GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of elder care principles and geriatric best practices
- Skill in assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
- Basic vital signs measurement and recognition of common changes in condition
- Good charting and documentation practices
- Compassionate communication with residents, families, and team members
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
