Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, prioritizing dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility) with patience and respect
• Monitor residents’ condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly and accurately
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure hydration and nutritional needs are met
• Maintain clear, timely documentation of care and observations
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families to create a warm, reassuring environment
• Follow infection control, safety procedures, and facility policies to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• GNA certification or state-equivalent credential (required or preferred depending on state regulations)
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Comfortable working with older adults and individuals with complex care needs
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to resident-centered care
• Willingness to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• High school diploma or GED recommended; GNA certification or completion of an approved GNA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of elder care principles and geriatric best practices
• Skill in assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
• Basic vital signs measurement and recognition of common changes in condition
• Good charting and documentation practices
• Compassionate communication with residents, families, and team members
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
