Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, and mobility
• Monitor and record vital signs and changes in condition, communicating concerns promptly to the nursing team
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive their dietary needs with dignity
• Assist with safe transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, following facility infection control practices
• Document care accurately and professionally in resident records to support continuity of care
• Build meaningful connections with residents and families, promoting comfort and emotional well-being

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) in good standing
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Compassionate patient-focused attitude with strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to perform physical aspects of the role (assisting with transfers, standing for shifts)
• Background check and any facility-specific screenings per hiring policy

Education

• High school diploma or GED; completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and personal care for older adults
• Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
• Knowledge of infection prevention and safe hygiene practices
• Familiarity with resident rights, dignity, and person-centered care
• Clear verbal and written communication for handoffs and documentation
• Team-oriented mindset and ability to follow care plans and nursing directions
