Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and changes in condition, communicating concerns promptly to the nursing team
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive their dietary needs with dignity
- Assist with safe transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, following facility infection control practices
- Document care accurately and professionally in resident records to support continuity of care
- Build meaningful connections with residents and families, promoting comfort and emotional well-being
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) in good standing
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Compassionate patient-focused attitude with strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the role (assisting with transfers, standing for shifts)
- Background check and any facility-specific screenings per hiring policy
Education
- High school diploma or GED; completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and personal care for older adults
- Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
- Knowledge of infection prevention and safe hygiene practices
- Familiarity with resident rights, dignity, and person-centered care
- Clear verbal and written communication for handoffs and documentation
- Team-oriented mindset and ability to follow care plans and nursing directions
