Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement individualized treatment activities under the direction of licensed OTs to help patients reach meaningful goals
• Assist with patient assessments, document progress, and communicate changes to the therapy team
• Lead therapeutic exercises and adaptive activities that promote independence in daily living
• Educate patients and families on home programs, safety strategies, and adaptive equipment use
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate patient care
• Maintain therapy equipment, ensure a safe treatment environment, and support quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant credential (COTA)
• Active state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure in Nebraska
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients and care teams
• Previous experience in inpatient, outpatient, or rehabilitation settings preferred
• Reliable, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to care

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of therapeutic activities and adaptive techniques for activities of daily living
• Skilled in patient handling, transfers, and safe mobility practices
• Proficient documentation and charting of treatment sessions and outcomes
• Good clinical judgment and ability to follow established care plans
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
• Comfortable educating patients and families in lay-friendly language
