Roles & Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate the patient care team to deliver individualized, high-quality Med/Surg care
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process for all ages
• Develop and update patient care plans in partnership with physicians, patients, and families
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings clearly and accurately
• Provide safe, evidence-based interventions and monitor patient responses
• Promote teamwork and effective communication with medical staff across the hospital
• Adhere to hospital policies including confidentiality, advance directives, and ADA requirements
• Function independently while escalating concerns and collaborating when necessary

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in the State of Maine or authorization pending licensure by endorsement
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current BLS required
• ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire
• Demonstrated Med/Surg nursing experience and comfort with patient assessment and care planning
• Strong documentation, communication, and computer skills
• Ability to function independently and work effectively in a team

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing)

Knowledge & Skills

• Med/Surg nursing principles and patient care workflows
• Nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation
• Patient assessment across the lifespan (pediatric to geriatric)
• Care planning and accurate clinical documentation
• Basic and advanced life support (BLS, ACLS, PALS)
• Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Familiarity with hospital policies on confidentiality and advance directives
• Proficient computer skills for electronic charting and documentation
