Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, mobility and dining
• Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and observations
• Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to reduce risk of injury
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and follow person-centered care plans
• Promote a positive environment by encouraging social engagement and emotional support

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required) — current and in good standing
• Current CPR/BLS certification (required or must obtain upon hire)
• Comfortable working with older adults and skilled in compassionate care
• Strong communication skills and ability to document care accurately
• Preferred: prior experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric settings
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification (program completion required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and geriatric care principles
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safe handling procedures
• Ability to observe, report and document changes in resident status
• Good interpersonal skills, patience, and a calm approach under pressure
• Basic mobility assistance and safe transfer techniques
