Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled physical therapy interventions under the direction of the supervising PT to help patients regain function and independence
• Deliver therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers and functional mobility coaching with compassion and clinical skill
• Document patient evaluations, treatment plans and progress notes accurately and promptly in the medical record
• Collaborate with therapists, nursing staff and other disciplines to create and implement cohesive care plans
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety techniques and strategies to support recovery
• Ensure a safe therapeutic environment by following infection control and safety protocols
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to positive patient outcomes
• Be a flexible team player — float between areas as needed to meet patient care demands

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a PTA in Maryland
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a care team
• Comfortable working with adult and geriatric populations in a rehab/long-term care setting
• Reliable, professional, and committed to providing patient-centered care

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Associate degree or equivalent)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven skill with therapeutic exercise, gait training and transfer techniques
• Knowledge of ADL training, balance training and fall prevention strategies
• Familiarity with documenting in electronic health record systems
• Ability to assess patient response and modify interventions appropriately
• Strong patient education and motivational skills
• Team-oriented mindset and good time-management abilities
