Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care for geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Support safe, clean living spaces and follow infection-control protocols
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families and the care team
- Accurately document care provided and observations in resident records
Qualifications
- GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
- Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent training
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or ability to obtain promptly
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a team-minded attitude
- Comfort with assisting residents with mobility and transfers in a safe manner
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience or knowledge of geriatric care and working with older adults
- Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic patient hygiene
- Basic charting and documentation skills; attention to detail
- Infection control, safety protocols, and resident rights
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced care environment
