Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Assist with mobility, transfers and safe use of assistive devices to promote independence
- Help create a warm, respectful environment that preserves dignity and comfort
- Document resident care accurately and timely to maintain clear communication across the care team
- Support mealtime, grooming and toileting needs with patience and respect
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to implement individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification or equivalent credential in your state
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass required health screenings
- Background check and TB screening clearance as required by facility
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the role, including safe resident transfers
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting older adults with activities of daily living
- Familiarity with infection control best practices and patient safety principles
- Solid documentation skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow care plans and report changes accurately
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with residents and families
- Basic understanding of common geriatric conditions and mobility challenges
