Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centered therapeutic treatments that help restore mobility and independence
- Assist the licensed Physical Therapist with exercise programs, gait training, and functional activities
- Document patient progress and update care plans accurately in the medical record
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and caregivers to coordinate high-quality rehabilitation
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and adaptive strategies
- Ensure safe use and maintenance of therapy equipment and assistive devices
- Contribute to discharge planning and smooth transitions of care
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in New Jersey, or eligible for NJ licensure
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program (Associate degree typical)
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willing to obtain prior to start)
- Hands-on experience in physical therapy, patient care, and rehabilitation (experience with adult rehab preferred)
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Ability to work weekend coverage and a schedule that includes all days of the week
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Completion of state-required PTA licensure/registration
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment fundamentals and safe transfer/gait assistance
- Therapeutic exercise prescription and progression
- Familiarity with common rehab modalities and assistive devices
- Clinical documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) proficiency
- Effective patient and family education techniques
- Strong teamwork, time management, and clinical problem-solving
