Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care on a 24-bed med-surg ortho/neuro unit, managing assigned patient load with confidence
• Perform thorough assessments, implement care plans, and document patient progress clearly and accurately
• Administer medications and treatments according to orders while monitoring patients for responses and side effects
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate timely patient care and effective discharge planning
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures, post-op care, and recovery to support positive outcomes
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns to providers when necessary
• Contribute to unit workflows and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and satisfaction

Qualifications

• Active RN license for the state of Oklahoma (or compact RN eligible)
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and wound/orthopedic certifications preferred
• Experience in med-surg, orthopedics, or neuro nursing — comfortable with a 1:5 ratio on a 24-bed unit
• Comfortable with 12-hour day shifts and the pace of a surgical/ortho/neuro unit
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of med-surg, orthopedic, and neuro patient care principles
• Skilled in medication administration, IV therapy, post-operative care, and wound management
• Proficient in patient assessment, vital sign interpretation, and early recognition of deterioration
• Good documentation practices and familiarity with electronic health record systems
• Strong teamwork, time management, and patient/family education skills
