Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide person-centered occupational therapy interventions to support activities of daily living and meaningful function
- Assess resident functional status and create individualized treatment plans that drive measurable outcomes
- Collaborate with nursing, rehab team members, and families to coordinate care and ensure safe transitions
- Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge plans in a timely, professional manner
- Train staff and caregivers on adaptive equipment, safe transfer techniques, and activity modifications
- Monitor and adjust interventions based on resident progress and changing needs
Qualifications
- Current Occupational Therapist license in Texas (or compact/reciprocity where applicable)
- OTR or equivalent certification preferred
- Recent experience working with adult/geriatric populations or in long-term care settings is a plus
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills
- Reliable, compassionate, and team-oriented with excellent communication skills
Education
- Entry-level Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT), OTD, or equivalent professional degree in Occupational Therapy
- Completion of accredited OT program and required clinical fieldwork
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL/IADL training and adaptive/assistive device recommendations
- Knowledge of therapeutic techniques for mobility, balance, and upper-extremity function
- Comfortable with care planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and setting measurable goals
- Proficient in clinical documentation and outcome tracking
- Ability to educate residents, families, and staff in a clear, supportive way
