Shift Type: Rotating day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, includes weekend and holiday rotation (12-hour day shifts)

Candidate Pay Rate: $49 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert respiratory care including ventilator setup, assessment, and management to keep patients breathing easier
- Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) collection and pulse oximetry to support clinical decisions
- Conduct pulmonary function testing (PFT) following ATS standards and ensure quality EKG recordings
- Set up and manage BIPAP/CPAP and assist with flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy when needed
- Implement and monitor VAP bundle components to reduce ventilator-associated complications
- Develop, document and update individualized care plans based on thorough patient assessment
- Educate patients and families about cardiopulmonary conditions, treatments, and equipment use
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and report deviations for case review and follow-up
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.) credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (or eligible)
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist in the State of Massachusetts
- ACLS required (must be obtained within 6 months of hire if not current)
- PALS required (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
- NRP required (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Prior respiratory therapy experience required
- Basic computer skills for documentation and clinical charting
- Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory Therapy program (preferred/required per job)
Education
- Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory Therapy program
Knowledge & Skills
- Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator assessment
- Arterial blood gas collection and interpretation
- Oxygen therapy and pulse oximetry monitoring
- Pulmonary function testing (PFT) following ATS standards
- EKG performance and ensuring high-quality recordings
- BIPAP/CPAP setup and titration
- Assisting with flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy
- Medication administration per physician orders and safe dosing practices
- VAP bundle implementation and infection prevention practices
- Strong clinical documentation, patient assessment, education and care coordination skills
