Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess critically ill patients comprehensively and synthesize findings into timely clinical decisions
- Develop individualized plans of care and implement evidence-based interventions for ICU patients
- Provide patient and family education to support recovery, discharge planning, and ongoing care
- Execute emergency response protocols (BLS, ACLS, PALS) and lead rapid interventions when needed
- Maintain stroke competency and perform NIH Stroke Scale assessments as required
- Promote infection control best practices to keep patients and staff safe
- Evaluate and improve your own nursing practice and contribute to unit quality initiatives
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and advocate for patients
Qualifications
- Current Montana Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (required)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification (to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
- American Heart Association BLS (required)
- American Heart Association ACLS (to be obtained within 8 months of hire)
- American Heart Association PALS (to be obtained within 8 months of hire)
- Competence in, and willingness to practice, modified primary nursing
- Experience or comfort working in ICU/critical care environments (preferred)
- Strong emotional intelligence, teamwork, and the ability to work varied shifts including nights and weekends
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and clinical diagnosis in acute and critical care settings
- Plan of care development and implementation tailored to individual patient needs
- Patient and family education with clear, compassionate communication
- Clinical documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance (DNV and hospital policy)
- Emergency response skills and proficiency with ACLS/PALS/BLS algorithms
- Infection control practices and safe patient handling
- Interpersonal skills, leadership, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to evaluate and improve nursing practice based on current evidence
