Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and age-appropriate respiratory assessments to guide care plans
• Initiate and conduct therapeutic respiratory procedures per physician orders
• Monitor physiological responses (vitals, ABGs, blood chemistry) and escalate concerns
• Prepare and safely administer respiratory medications and document effects
• Conduct cardiopulmonary testing (cardiac monitoring, lung capacity tests) and optimize equipment settings
• Maintain, clean, and assist with calibration of respiratory equipment
• Complete timely, accurate documentation in both electronic and chart formats
• Educate patients and families on treatments, discharge instructions, and follow-up
• Participate in performance improvement activities to elevate patient care
• Adhere to safety protocols to minimize errors and protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Current IL Respiratory Therapist License (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• ACLS certification (required)
• NRP certification (required)
• PALS certification (required)
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapy experience
• Comfortable navigating EMR systems and documenting electronically
• Strong ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively
