Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Day shifts, 8-hour shifts (guaranteed 40 hours/week). Typical schedule includes day coverage with every-other-weekend (EOW) requirement and 'first to float' duties; specific start/end times vary by unit. A 12-hour night shift option is available only for candidates with an ED background who are willing to work nights.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient care across the hospital by managing case assignments and executing discharge planning
- Conduct utilization review and ensure appropriate level-of-care decisions are documented and communicated
- Use Cerner and other charting systems to maintain accurate, timely patient records and care plans
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, social work, pharmacy, therapy) to ensure safe transitions of care
- Support throughput and patient flow with efficient case management for an approximate 1:20 assignment ratio
- Float to adult hospital areas as needed and provide reliable clinical coverage with professionalism
- Adapt quickly during orientation and precepting to meet unit-specific workflows and standards
Qualifications
- Active RN license (ability to practice in California required)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum of 3 years hospital experience with acute care level care coordination experience (posting notes this requirement explicitly)
- Prior California Dignity/CommonSpirit acute care experience is required — candidates without this experience will not be considered
- Two supervisory references required at submittal (charge nurse accepted): one within 12 months and one within 3 years
- Ability to float to all adult areas; women's health experience required to cover women's health patients
- Excellent attendance, adaptability, and ability to start quickly and function independently on the unit
Education
- Active RN license required (BSN not required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with Cerner charting system (charting-focused webinar orientation provided)
- Hands-on experience with Midas, InterCall, and Curaspan
- Strong Microsoft Office skills for documentation and communication
- Expertise in discharge planning and utilization review processes
- Case management and acute care coordination best practices
- Comfort working with high patient ratios and fast-paced acute care environments
