Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate emergency care across multiple zone facilities as an ER float nurse
• Quickly assess and triage patients presenting with a variety of acute conditions including stroke, STEMI, trauma, respiratory and abdominal complaints
• Perform point-of-care testing and accurate bedside assessments to guide timely treatment
• Interpret telemetry and cardiac strips, escalate changes appropriately and collaborate with the team for rapid interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, mid-levels, RT, techs and support staff to ensure smooth patient flow and safe dispositions
• Adapt to different ER environments within Zone 4 while maintaining consistent standards of care
• Document thoroughly in EPIC and complete required charting and handoffs

Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be able to submit license to apply)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (ER/ED experience highly preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA)
• ENPC or PALS and TNCC required
• NIHSS certification for stroke assessment
• Comfortable with telemetry interpretation and point-of-care testing
• Ability and willingness to float within a 60-mile Zone 4 radius (travel/housing must support floating)
• Able to complete unit orientation (2-3 days) and week-of-orientation in-state

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing assessment and triage skills
• Experience with EPIC charting system
• Telemetry rhythm recognition and interpretation
• Familiarity with emergency procedures for STEMI and stroke send-outs
• Comfortable performing point-of-care lab testing
• Ability to manage multiple acuity levels and 1:4-5 nurse-to-patient ratios
• Team-oriented communication and the ability to work with varied ER support staff
