Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality inpatient oncology nursing care during night shifts
- Safely prepare, administer, and monitor IV chemotherapy and manage potential reactions
- Document thoroughly and accurately using EPIC charting
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
- Perform timely assessments and intervene for acute changes in patient condition
- Educate patients and families about treatments, side effect management, and discharge planning
- Support Med/Surg units by floating as needed while maintaining oncology care standards
- Participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives to continuously improve care
Qualifications
- Current California RN license
- ONC/Chemo certification required
- Current BLS and ACLS recognition
- Demonstrated experience in inpatient acute oncology and IV chemotherapy administration
- EPIC charting experience
- Comfort with floating to Med/Surg units as staffing requires
- Strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and teamwork skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Oncology nursing principles and chemotherapy safety
- Intravenous infusion therapy and chemotherapeutic agent handling
- EPIC electronic health record documentation
- Acute care assessment and monitoring
- ACLS and BLS protocols and emergency response
- Patient and family education around oncology treatments
- Time management and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced inpatient setting
