Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat adults in acute inpatient settings and provide developmentally appropriate feeding support for premature infants in the NICU
- Perform modified video swallow studies and interpret findings to guide safe swallowing plans
- Develop individualized treatment and feeding plans that improve patient outcomes and safety
- Document assessments, plans, and progress thoroughly and efficiently using Cerner
- Manage a busy caseload (approximately 9-10 patients per day) while prioritizing clinical needs and patient safety
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, dietitians, and families to coordinate care and transitions
- Participate in crisis protocol procedures and contribute to a safe, calm therapeutic environment
- Provide family and caregiver education to support carryover and discharge planning
Qualifications
- Active SLP license required (candidates must be license-ready to submit)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant clinical experience (acute care and/or NICU experience preferred)
- BLS Certification required
- COVID-19 vaccination required
- Crisis protocol approval required
- Proven experience performing modified video swallow studies
- Comfortable charting in Cerner and maintaining timely documentation
- Ability to manage a high daily caseload while delivering quality care
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in modified video swallow studies and dysphagia assessment
- Experience with feeding evaluations for NICU/premature infants
- Strong background in adult inpatient acute care speech-language pathology
- Efficient charting and documentation practices in Cerner
- Caseload management strategies for treating 9-10 patients per day
- Interdisciplinary communication and family education skills
