Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ functional abilities and create individualized occupational therapy plans
• Deliver skilled OT interventions to help patients regain independence in daily activities
• Document assessments, progress and plans accurately in EPIC
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and other therapists to coordinate patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques and safe home strategies
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions and safe outcomes
• Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on patient progress and clinical reasoning
• Help maintain a safe, efficient unit by following hospital policies and best practices

Qualifications

• Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) via NBCOT (required)
• BLS (AHA) certification (required)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in inpatient acute care
• Experience with EPIC charting (documenting in EPIC is part of the role)
• License to submit candidates indicates active state OT licensure is required
• Willingness to complete a 12-hour orientation to get acclimated to the unit

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills for inpatient acute patients
• Skilled in ADL/IADL interventions and mobility/upper-extremity therapeutic techniques
• Proficient documentation practices and familiarity with EPIC
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary teamwork
• Time management and caseload prioritization in a fast-paced hospital setting
• Patient- and family-centered education skills
