Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered telemetry and med-surg nursing for a mixed surgical/neuro population
• Interpret ECG/telemetry strips and sign interpretations at least once per shift
• Monitor and assess patients continuously, responding to changes in condition with sound clinical judgment
• Administer medications and manage set-rate drips (example: diltiazem) per unit protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including tele/monitor techs, respiratory therapy, and charge nurses
• Support patient flow by safely floating to East Campus or PCU when needed
• Document care accurately and timely in Cerner and participate in unit quality and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in Arizona)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience (telemetry/med-surg or equivalent preferred)
• Experience reading basic telemetry/ECG strips and documenting interpretations
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and participating in weekend rotations
• Cerner charting experience recommended (one day of unit orientation only)
• Ability to work with respiratory support devices (BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow) and assist with breathing treatments

Education

• Active RN license required; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and ECG/telemetry strip interpretation
• MedSurg/Telemetry nursing fundamentals and post-op surgical patient care
• Strong assessment skills and clinical prioritization under typical 1:5 ratios
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting
• Teamwork, clear communication, and documentation best practices
• Safe medication administration and familiarity with common cardiac drips
• Adaptability to float between units and manage varied patient diagnoses (COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic, TIA/CVA, ortho/spine)
