Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule set on a 6-week rotation (exact days vary); every-other-weekend and holiday rotation

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor progressive care (PCU) patients, providing high-quality, compassionate nursing care
- Interpret telemetry and act decisively on cardiac rhythm changes to keep patients safe
- Administer medications and titrate IV drips (heparin, octreotide, insulin) per protocol and provider orders
- Chart accurately and efficiently in EPIC to maintain clear, real-time patient records
- Respond to codes and emergencies using ACLS/BLS skills and available specialty equipment
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Support unit flow in a high-admission environment by managing frequent admissions, transfers and discharges
- Use assistive devices (LUCAS, Hoyer, Sit & Stand) safely when providing patient care
- Work alongside tele/monitor techs and other support staff to optimize patient surveillance and outcomes
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to practice in Nebraska)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience — PCU/Stepdown or Med/Surg with cardiac/stroke exposure preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
- Comfortable reading/interpreting telemetry and titrating drips (heparin, octreotide, insulin)
- Proficiency with EPIC charting system
- Valid driver's license at time of submission (used to confirm radius eligibility)
- Willingness to comply with unit policies (e.g., no artificial nails for patient care) and pass orientation exam (90% required)
- Ability to float to other areas (Med/Surg, ICU, ED) as needed and work effectively on a team
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred but not required
- Active RN license in Nebraska
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring skills
- Skilled in IV medication administration and titration of drips
- Proficient in EPIC electronic health record documentation
- Competent with resuscitation and emergency response (ACLS/BLS)
- Experience with common PCU equipment: code carts, LUCAS, Hoyer lift, Sit & Stand
- Excellent clinical judgment, prioritization, and time management in a high-flow environment
- Clear communication and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and tele/monitor techs
