Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care to medical ICU patients (sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, MI) with skill and compassion
• Manage ventilators and BiPAP therapy and collaborate with respiratory therapy for adjustment and troubleshooting
• Titrate vasopressors and sedation drips safely and according to protocol to stabilize patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac strips and verify telemetry findings for timely interventions
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in EPIC
• Stabilize patients for transfer when specialty care is needed and coordinate with receiving teams
• Work collaboratively with hospitalists, intensivists (in-house daytime/tele-medicine at night), and unit charge nurses
• Participate in unit-based orientation and demonstrate competency on skills assessments

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (eligible to submit for this facility)
• BLS, ACLS and NIHSS required at time of submission
• PALS and TNCC preferred (nice-to-have)
• Minimum ~2 years of ICU/critical care experience preferred
• Previous travel ICU experience preferred but not required
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used for radius rule eligibility)
• Ability to pass orientation competency assessment (open-book skills exam; 90% pass required)
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts, every third weekend, and occasional float to PCU

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN; BSN preferred but not required
• Completion of required certifications (BLS, ACLS, NIHSS) prior to start

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong ventilator management skills and familiarity with troubleshooting vent alarms
• Experience with vasoactive drips, sedation agents, and drip titration
• Cardiac monitoring and strip interpretation proficiency
• Proficient EPIC charting and accurate documentation practices
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow therapies
• Ability to work independently on nights while collaborating with centralized tele-monitor techs
• Familiarity with Draeger monitors and centralized telemetry workflows
• Excellent critical thinking, prioritization, and acute patient assessment skills
