Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, patient-centered critical care to adults in a high-acuity ICU setting
- Titrate vasoactive drips and other IV therapies safely and according to protocols
- Manage ventilators and BiPAPs and troubleshoot respiratory support with RT collaboration
- Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry/ECG strips and act on changes
- Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC to maintain clear continuity
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including intensivists, hospitalists, APRNs, and E-ICU staff
- Float to PCU and medical floors as needed while maintaining high standards of care
- Serve as a reliable member of staffing ratios (typically 1:2 ICU) and support charge nurse structure
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for submission in Nebraska (must be able to submit)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of critical care/ICU nursing experience
- Comfortable with 12-hour shift scheduling and every-other-weekend rotations
- Strong experience with medication titration (vasopressors, insulin, heparin, sedatives, etc.)
- Able to read and interpret telemetry/ECG strips independently
- Current driver’s license required at time of submittal (radius rule applies)
Education
- Active RN license required
- BSN not required (noted as not mandatory in this posting)
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care assessment and nursing judgment in high-acuity scenarios
- Ventilator and respiratory support knowledge including BiPAP and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with EPIC charting and documentation workflows
- Skill in IV medication administration and titration protocols
- Telemetry/ECG interpretation and recognition of arrhythmias and ischemia
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills
