Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality cardiovascular and telemetry nursing care to patients with STEMI/NSTEMI, CHF, and post-cardiothoracic surgery needs
• Perform ongoing patient assessment and monitoring, including telemetry interpretation and early recognition of changes in condition
• Safely administer IV medications, including antiarrhythmic therapies, and manage infusion-related needs
• Deliver post-operative cardiothoracic care and coordinate transitions from ICU to CVCU/SDU
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Respond to chest pain rule-out and acute cardiac events with professionalism and urgency
• Provide patient and family education on condition management, discharge planning, and follow-up care
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to ACLS and NIHSS protocols and facility policies

Qualifications

• Active Oklahoma RN license (compact licenses accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Step-Down Unit (SDU) experience required
• Experience floating to Med/Surg or ER and able to accept CVCU/Med-Surg holds
• Current ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring, noninvasive ventilation support, and cardiothoracic post-op care
• Flexible schedule mindset; NO block scheduling

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• IV medication administration, including antiarrhythmics
• STEMI/NSTEMI and chest pain rule-out protocols
• Congestive heart failure management and assessment
• Post-operative cardiothoracic care and ICU step-down transition
• Noninvasive ventilation basics and monitoring
• Strong patient assessment, critical thinking, and situational awareness
• Effective communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
