Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality peri-procedural nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization
• Prepare and assist in invasive cardiac procedures, maintaining strict sterile technique
• Monitor hemodynamics, cardiac rhythms, and patient status; intervene promptly as needed
• Collaborate closely with physicians, technologists, and the interprofessional team to ensure safe, efficient procedures
• Educate patients and families about procedures, post-procedure expectations, and discharge instructions
• Document patient care thoroughly and accurately in the medical record
• Adhere to safety protocols, infection control standards, and unit policies to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Florida or compact) required for the assignment
• Minimum 2 years of experience, with cardiac cath lab or interventional cardiology experience preferred
• BLS required; ACLS highly preferred for cardiac procedural support
• Comfortable with invasive monitoring, sterile field maintenance, and cath lab workflows
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills to thrive in a fast-paced procedural environment
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and adapt to unit scheduling needs during a travel contract

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/ASN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of cardiac catheterization procedures and catheterization lab equipment
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms
• Proficient in sterile technique, procedural prep, and post-procedure care
• Excellent patient assessment and triage abilities
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Calm under pressure with the ability to prioritize in emergent situations
