Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function using evidence-based tools
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that help patients meet meaningful goals
- Provide skilled therapy and carry-over strategies for patients and families to promote real-world progress
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, and caregivers to coordinate care
- Document assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and on time
- Educate patients, families, and staff on communication strategies, dysphagia precautions, and therapy carryover
- Monitor outcomes and adjust therapy plans to ensure measurable patient progress
- Mentor support staff and contribute to a positive, learning-focused clinical environment
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent graduate degree)
- Active or eligible for California SLP licensure; licensure assistance available if needed
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Experience assessing and treating adult and/or pediatric populations in clinical settings
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams
- Comfortable with common therapy tools and adaptable to facility-specific systems
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (MS or MA) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in standardized and informal assessments for speech, language, cognition, and swallowing
- Knowledge of dysphagia evaluation and safe-aspiration strategies
- Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) approaches
- Excellent interpersonal skills for coaching families and collaborating with care teams
- Proficient documentation and outcome tracking to demonstrate patient progress
- Comfort with telehealth delivery and hybrid care models when appropriate
