Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess communication and swallowing function using evidence-based evaluations
- Develop personalized treatment plans that help patients reach meaningful goals
- Deliver skilled, compassionate therapy across the continuum of care
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and therapists to coordinate care
- Document progress clearly and timely in the medical record
- Educate patients and families so gains extend beyond the clinic
- Adapt therapy to meet the needs of diverse populations and diagnoses
- Mentor and guide support staff when appropriate to elevate team care
Qualifications
- Valid state license or eligibility to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or the ability to obtain certification
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Clinical experience evaluating and treating communication and swallowing disorders
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with patient-centered focus
- Ability to complete documentation and meet productivity expectations for a contract role
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in speech, language, cognitive-communication, and dysphagia assessment
- Skilled in developing goal-focused, measurable treatment plans
- Familiarity with common therapeutic modalities and compensatory strategies
- Comfortable working in interdisciplinary teams and communicating with caregivers
- Experience with electronic medical records and timely documentation
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to tailor interventions to individual needs
