Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to adult patients, prioritizing safety and comfort
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to telemetry alerts with prompt assessment and interventions
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while documenting thoroughly in the patient record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge instructions to support recovery
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Maintain compliance with infection control, documentation, and competency standards

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in Iowa (license verification required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience in telemetry and medical-surgical nursing (listed as core skills)
• Completion of required health screenings and vaccinations: Fit Test, 10-panel drug screen, Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA, and physical/health statement

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• Strong medical-surgical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Proficient in bedside documentation and electronic health records
• Ability to respond effectively to rapid changes in patient condition
• Familiarity with unit competency testing and skills checklists
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
