Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to adult patients, prioritizing safety and comfort
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to telemetry alerts with prompt assessment and interventions
- Administer medications and treatments accurately while documenting thoroughly in the patient record
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge instructions to support recovery
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Maintain compliance with infection control, documentation, and competency standards
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse license valid in Iowa (license verification required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience in telemetry and medical-surgical nursing (listed as core skills)
- Completion of required health screenings and vaccinations: Fit Test, 10-panel drug screen, Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA, and physical/health statement
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
- Strong medical-surgical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Proficient in bedside documentation and electronic health records
- Ability to respond effectively to rapid changes in patient condition
- Familiarity with unit competency testing and skills checklists
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
