Roles & Responsibilities

• Room patients efficiently and warmly — obtain vital signs and record history, medications and allergies
• Prepare exam rooms and charting materials in EPIC so providers can focus on care
• Set up and assist with dermatologic procedures including punch and shave biopsies and sterile procedures
• Perform suture removal and wound care with aseptic technique and attention to patient comfort
• Collect and label specimens accurately to support timely lab processing
• Handle office duties like authorization forms, scheduling appointments, and pharmacy refill calls
• Use EPIC In Basket to communicate with the care team and follow up with patients as needed
• Float between sister clinics when needed while maintaining consistent standards of care

Qualifications

• MA-C (Medical Assistant - Certified) required — MA-R and MA-P not accepted
• EPIC charting experience required
• At least 6 months (0.5 year) experience in an adult outpatient clinic setting preferred; dermatology experience preferred but first-timers are welcome
• BLS and CMA preferred
• Reliable transportation required (travel pairs must have their own vehicles)
• Willingness to float to First Hill, West Seattle, and Bellevue clinic locations as needed
• Ability to participate in a 40-hour orientation

Education

• Medical Assistant certification (MA-C)
• High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Charting in EPIC, including In Basket use
• Rooming patients and obtaining vital signs
• Aseptic technique and sterile procedure setup/assist (ED&C experience a plus)
• Suture removal, wound care, and specimen collection/labeling
• Performing and assisting with punch and shave biopsies
• Office skills: scheduling, authorization forms, chart prep, pharmacy refill calls
• Basic lab testing such as blood glucose via glucometer
• Strong communication and patient-centered bedside manner
