Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver age-specific, direct patient care using the Nursing Process to guide safe, effective treatment
- Provide emergency department nursing care consistent with departmental and specialty standards
- Assume leadership responsibilities on shift, including delegation and coordination of care
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and facility policies
- Maintain required certifications and ensure timely renewal or documented enrollment in courses when needed
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team to support excellent outcomes
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (state licensure required prior to start)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required prior to contract start
- PALS or ENPC required (must be active prior to contract start or course booked at orientation)
- De-escalation training required and must be active prior to contract start or course booked at orientation
- Comfort working nights in a fast-paced emergency department and delegating tasks to team members
- Adherence to state and federal regulations governing health care practice
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong grasp of the Nursing Process and its application in emergency care
- Experience delivering age-specific patient care across the lifespan
- Direct patient care skills in high-acuity settings
- Leadership and delegation skills to coordinate team activities on shift
- Familiarity with state and federal healthcare regulations and compliance expectations
- Effective communication and crisis de-escalation techniques
