Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality Med/Surg nursing care on a 25-bed unit, focusing on stroke, post-op, and comfort care patients
• Manage complex patient needs including heparin drips, wound care, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and dialysis coordination
• Perform focused assessments and interventions for altered mental status, CIWA patients, AKI, and COPD exacerbations
• Support post-operative patients including amputations and drain management with skill and compassion
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute patient-centered care plans
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Complete required onboarding modules and successfully finish orientation shifts to transition smoothly to the unit

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — current and active license required
• Med/Surg nursing experience with recent travel or agency experience preferred
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health record
• Stroke certification preferred (candidates who are stroke certified highly encouraged to apply)
• Ability to work three 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, and every other holiday
• Comfort managing a varied Med/Surg population including post-op and palliative care patients

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med/Surg clinical judgment and prioritization
• Experience with stroke care pathways and common stroke presentations
• Skill in managing drips (including heparin), wound care, chest and feeding tubes
• Comfort with CIWA management, AKI recognition, and COPD exacerbation treatment
• Ability to deliver compassionate hospice/comfort care when needed
• Proficient documentation and navigation in Epic
