Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents — assist with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident changes, communicating observations to nursing staff
- Assist with safe transfers and repositioning to promote comfort and prevent injury
- Support mealtime needs, including feeding assistance and monitoring meal intake
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection prevention best practices
- Document care accurately and timely in resident records and communicate effectively with the care team
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families to enhance comfort and quality of life
Qualifications
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (required)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings as per facility policy
- Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills when working with residents and team members
- Prior experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus but not strictly required
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an approved CNA training program required
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfort with personal care tasks and safe patient handling techniques
- Basic knowledge of vital signs and how to report changes
- Familiarity with infection control and standard precautions
- Good documentation and communication skills — clear handoffs and charting
- A team-oriented mindset and the ability to prioritize resident needs
