Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality OB/GYN ultrasound exams using diagnostic sonography equipment
• Apply sonic energy and imaging techniques to assist licensed practitioners with diagnosis and intervention
• Demonstrate and identify anatomy clearly to support clinical interpretation
• Provide compassionate patient care and recognize conditions that affect exam success
• Operate and maintain sonography equipment, ensuring images meet clinical standards
• Use professional judgment to adapt exams to patient needs while upholding medical ethics
• Float to other departments for patient care when qualified and requested

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAHEA-accredited sonography program or equivalent
• ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) certification or equivalent approved certification
• Licensed in the State of Oregon as an Ultrasonographer or Radiologic Technologist/Sonographer
• Experience performing OB/GYN ultrasound exams (position is OB/GYN only)
• Comfort with abdominal, neurosonology, or ophthalmic exams is a plus for cross-coverage
• Strong patient communication skills and a professional bedside manner

Education

• Graduate of a CAHEA-accredited sonography program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• OB/GYN ultrasound techniques and fetal imaging
• Diagnostic Medical Sonography principles and best practices
• Operation and troubleshooting of sonography equipment
• Anatomy recognition for accurate image interpretation
• Patient care skills, including positioning and comfort
• Ability to float and provide cross-department coverage when needed
• Understanding of imaging safety and infection control procedures
