Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and instrument trays to ensure each procedure starts on time
- Maintain a sterile field and follow strict aseptic technique to protect patients
- Pass instruments and supplies efficiently to support the surgical team
- Operate, clean, and troubleshoot surgical equipment and instrumentation
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons and nurses, working independently with minimal direction
- Document procedures and communicate status clearly with perioperative staff
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control policies to promote excellent outcomes
- Support turnover between cases to maximize OR productivity and patient flow
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
- Three or more years of Operating Room Technician / OR Tech experience
- Comfortable working independently and with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills and commitment to patient safety
- Ability to travel to and work on a contract assignment in Hermiston, OR
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough knowledge of sterile technique and OR infection control
- Familiarity with surgical instruments, trays, and passing techniques
- Experience with operating room setup, turnover, and equipment sterilization
- Good situational awareness and ability to anticipate team needs
- Strong time management and reliability in a fast-paced environment
- Teamwork mindset and clear, professional communication skills
