Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, client-centered occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of an OT
• Implement individualized treatment plans to help patients regain independence in activities of daily living
• Deliver adaptive strategies, therapeutic activities, and assistive device recommendations to improve function
• Document patient progress clearly and timely in the electronic medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
• Educate patients and families on therapeutic goals, home programs, and safety strategies
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve rehabilitation outcomes

Qualifications

• Current COTA certification or state equivalent (must be eligible to practice in Michigan)
• Active Michigan licensure or ability to obtain state authorization prior to start
• Clinical experience in rehabilitation or similar settings preferred
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
• Ability to handle documentation requirements and maintain professional standards of care

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field
• Completion of accredited OTA program and national/state certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of therapeutic techniques for mobility, ADLs, and adaptive equipment
• Familiarity with rehabilitation assessments and treatment planning
• Comfortable with documentation systems and maintaining regulatory compliance
• Good clinical reasoning and goal-setting skills
• Ability to teach and motivate patients and caregivers
• Time management and caseload prioritization in a fast-paced rehab environment
