Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality peri-procedural nursing care in the cath lab for diagnostic and interventional cardiac cases
• Prepare patients and the environment for procedures, maintaining sterile technique and safety standards
• Monitor patients during procedures using cardiac monitors and assess hemodynamic status
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure smooth, timely care
• Respond to on-call activations professionally and calmly, delivering urgent support when needed
• Document patient assessments, procedures, and post-procedure care accurately in the medical record
• Participate in competency testing and skills validation to maintain cath lab excellence

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state license required for practice in Iowa)
• Prior Cath Lab experience preferred and valued
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Willingness and availability for on-call shifts and every 3rd weekend rotation
• Successful completion of facility onboarding items (fit test, drug screen, immunizations, etc.)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred or equivalent nursing education
• Completion of required facility competency testing (Trinity specialty skills) as part of onboarding

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with cardiac catheterization procedures and cath lab equipment
• Strong cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation skills
• Excellent aseptic and sterile technique
• Solid clinical assessment and critical thinking under pressure
• Clear communication and teamwork with physicians and support staff
• Comfortable with electronic medical records and procedure documentation
