Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac telemetry and rapidly recognize and respond to arrhythmias and changes in cardiac status
• Provide safe, evidence-based post-operative recovery care for surgical and cath lab patients
• Perform timely stroke assessments using the NIH Stroke Scale when indicated and follow stroke protocols
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
• Administer and manage set-rate cardiac drips and other non-titrating infusions per unit guidelines
• Maintain patient safety and clinical priorities in a busy unit with occasional high turnover
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge planning
• Contribute to a positive unit culture through teamwork, reliable communication, and professionalism

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice (must have appropriate licensure to work in Colorado)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and/or surgical/post-op experience preferred)
• ACLS required for RNs, NIH Stroke Scale certification required for RNs, BLS required for all staff
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and post-operative monitoring
• Experience using Meditech EMR or similar documentation systems
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and adapt to a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
• Friendly, outgoing personality with strong teamwork and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Post-operative recovery care and cath lab patient management
• Cardiac monitoring and familiarity with set-rate cardiac drips
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic medical record documentation
• Stroke assessment (NIH Stroke Scale) and chest pain protocols
• Experience working within established patient ratios (unit reports 5:1)
• Familiarity with bariatric equipment and hoyer lifts used on the unit
