Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional, evidence-based nursing care to adults and geriatric patients in a 35-bed PCU/stepdown setting
• Monitor patients continuously and titrate drips safely, including Cardizem, beta blockers and seizure meds
• Collaborate with the charge nurse, physicians, and interdisciplinary team to coordinate compassionate care
• Use EPIC to document care accurately and efficiently
• Perform focused assessments for cardiac, nephrology and stroke patients, and act quickly on changes
• Support and mentor patient care techs and aides, ensuring high-quality team-based care
• Complete unit-specific orientation and pass the skills exam (90% required) to ensure clinical competency
• Float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab as needed while maintaining patient safety and standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license - license to submit required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (PCU/stepdown or relevant acute care experience preferred)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Comfortable with 12-hour shift work and titration of drips
• Ability to pass a skills pass/fail exam with 90% during orientation
• Driver's license required at submittal (radius rule applies)
• Strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Education

• Active RN license (required to submit)
• BSN: Not required (BSN Required: No)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with EPIC charting system
• Experience in PCU/stepdown care and acute care nursing
• Familiarity with continuous EEG monitoring and cardiac/nephrology/stroke patient needs
• Skill in titrating and managing drips and set-rate infusions
• Effective teamwork and charge nurse collaboration
• Excellent patient assessment, documentation, and clinical judgment
