Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a high-volume emergency department
• Provide trauma, stroke, and acute medical care using evidence-based practices
• Monitor cardiac status and manage critical interventions with confidence
• Document patient care thoroughly in Cerner to ensure clear continuity and compliance
• Coach and give real-time feedback to team members to improve patient outcomes
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and unit staff to coordinate excellent patient experiences
• Maintain required certifications and participate in unit guidelines and quality initiatives

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice (state authorization required)
• Minimum 2 years' experience as a nurse, with at least 1 year of Emergency Department experience
• Required certifications prior to start: BLS and ACLS; PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS required before start or on hire as noted
• ENPC to be completed within 90 days of hire
• Comfort with high-volume ED environments (100,000+ visits) and Level 2 trauma / comprehensive stroke center experience preferred
• Experience with Cerner documentation and familiarity with Baxter pumps and GE monitors preferred
• Strong teamwork, communication, and ability to coach/mentor on the floor

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Completion of nursing program and active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and triage best practices
• Trauma care and rapid assessment
• Stroke care and NIHSS familiarity
• Cardiac monitoring and interpretation
• Cerner documentation workflows
• Operation of Baxter infusion pumps and GE patient monitors
• Patient-centered communication and AIDET principles
• Ability to float across ED sections and adapt quickly
