Roles & Responsibilities

• Triages and assesses patients rapidly and accurately in a high-volume emergency department
• Provides skilled nursing care across ED sections, including cardiac monitoring and behavioral holds
• Delivers patient-centered communication using AIDET and keeps patients and families updated throughout the visit
• Documents care thoroughly and efficiently in Cerner to ensure continuity and quality
• Operates and troubleshoots unit equipment such as Baxter pumps and GE monitors
• Coaches and mentors teammates in real time, offering constructive feedback to elevate team performance
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to prioritize care and facilitate timely patient flow
• Maintains unit policies, attendance expectations, and required certifications to meet hospital standards

Qualifications

• Active registered nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ER setting
• Experience in a Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and high-volume ED (>100,000 visits) preferred
• Required certifications before start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
• ENPC to be completed within 90 days of hire
• Demonstrated teamwork mindset and ability to coach/give feedback in real time
• Willingness to float within all sections of the ED (not outside the ED)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient triage skills and emergency assessment
• Strong Cerner documentation experience
• Familiarity with stroke assessment (NIHSS) and trauma workflows
• Comfortable with Baxter infusion pumps and GE monitoring systems
• Excellent communication and patient-experience focus (AIDET)
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
