Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic mammography examinations with precision and compassion
- Operate and maintain mammography and radiology diagnostic equipment safely
- Ensure patient comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing concerns
- Adhere strictly to radiation safety protocols and quality assurance standards
- Accurately document images and patient data in PACS and the electronic practice system
- Collaborate with radiologists and the care team to support timely diagnoses
- Provide clear patient education about imaging procedures and follow-up instructions
- Maintain professional records, complete required orientation and continuing education
Qualifications
- Certified Mammography Technologist - ARRT (M) required
- Medical Radiographer: CA (MRAD:CA) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS - CPR) required
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an AMA school of Radiologic Technology or equivalent
- Completion of 40 hours of structured education in Mammography required
- ARRT (RTR) preferred
- One year experience as a Radiologic/Mammography Technologist preferred
- Six months outpatient experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduation from a formal AMA school of Radiologic Technology or equivalent
- Completion of 40 hours of structured education in Mammography
Knowledge & Skills
- Mammography and general radiography principles
- Anatomy and physiology relevant to imaging
- Radiation safety and quality assurance practices
- Operation and care of radiology diagnostic equipment
- Proficiency with PACS and electronic practice management systems
- Medical terminology and accurate clinical documentation
- Strong patient communication and customer service skills
- Organizational skills and attention to detail in a clinic setting
