Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide specialized neonatal care in a 30-bed Level 3 NICU, managing complex and critical patients
- Manage a high-volume service with approximately 400 NICU admissions per year
- Deliver advanced respiratory and critical care interventions including HFOV, nitric oxide therapy, and therapeutic cooling
- Participate in a combination schedule that includes 24-hour in-house coverage and 10-hour day shifts to ensure continuous patient care
- Collaborate closely with obstetric, pediatric and multidisciplinary teams within a regional perinatal center
- Teach and mentor medical students, family practice residents, and support the upcoming OB/GYN residency program launching summer 2025
- Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, and program development efforts in the NICU
- Engage with the community and help uphold the high standard of neonatal care in the region
Qualifications
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Neonatology
- MD or DO degree with completion of neonatology fellowship training
- Experience practicing in a Level 3 NICU and comfort managing high-acuity neonatal patients
- Hands-on experience with HFOV, nitric oxide therapy, and therapeutic cooling protocols
- Comfort and experience participating in 24-hour in-house coverage and 10-hour day shift models
- Experience or enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring trainees
- Must reside within the immediate local area (local residency required)
- Not accepting locum tenens candidates; not accepting visa candidates
Education
- MD or DO with completion of neonatology fellowship (board-certified or board-eligible)
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical excellence in neonatology and NICU management
- Advanced neonatal respiratory support techniques (HFOV, nitric oxide)
- Therapeutic hypothermia/therapeutic cooling protocols
- Perinatal center workflows and collaboration with obstetric teams
- Strong communication, teamwork, and teaching/mentoring abilities
- Ability to manage high-volume admissions and prioritize critical care
