Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality therapeutic radiological physics care for the Radiation Oncology Department
- Perform and lead patient-specific QA, chart QA, plan checks, and equipment QA to ensure treatment accuracy
- Commission, calibrate, and maintain linear accelerators and other radiation sources
- Support clinical treatments on TomoTherapy Hi-Art and Varian TrueBeam systems
- Use Eclipse and Tomoplan for treatment planning and Aria for record-and-verify workflows
- Collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team
- Participate in teaching and residency training to mentor the next generation
- Implement and evaluate new technologies and workflows to improve patient care
Qualifications
- US Board Eligible (with plans to become Board Certified) or Board Certified by ABR or ABMP — this is required
- Graduating residency in 2025 will be considered if candidate will be Board Eligible upon completion
- Comfort with on-call duties (1:2) and ability to support clinic operations
- Strong teamwork, communication skills, and a good work ethic
- Must be able to commute within one hour; not open to candidates who will commute long distances or hold another job concurrently
- Not open to locum tenens or 1099 candidates; not accepting visa candidates
- No reinstatement-of-lapsed Board Certification candidates — current Board Eligible/Certified status required
Education
- Completion of a clinical medical physics residency (or graduating residency in 2025 and will be Board Eligible upon completion)
- Board Eligibility or Board Certification by ABR or ABMP (US Board Eligible/Certified required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Therapeutic radiological physics fundamentals and clinical best practices
- Linear accelerator commissioning, calibration, and QA (Varian TrueBeam, TomoTherapy Hi-Art)
- Patient-specific QA, chart QA, and plan checks
- Treatment planning with Eclipse and Tomoplan
- Experience with Aria record-and-verify systems
- Techniques including SRS, SBRT, IMRT, DIBH, gating, SGRT, and 3D conformal
- Ability to implement new technologies and contribute to process improvement
- Teaching and residency training experience or interest
