Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and compassion
• Conduct interview-based medical evaluations and perform focused physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Prepare clear, timely medical documentation and formal reports, including required addendums and medical opinions
• Ensure exams are non-treatment and non-prescriptive while maintaining high-quality clinical assessments
• Coordinate with VES onboarding and complete required training to maintain credentialing and compliance
• Manage patient interactions respectfully, protecting Veteran privacy and delivering objective evaluations

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted physician license in the state where you will practice (Oregon for these openings)
• Board certification or practice background in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or general medicine
• Experience with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams or separation health assessments preferred
• Ability to perform interview-based evaluations and focused physical testing (range of motion, muscle strength)
• Own-office option applicants: access to a private clinical office within a 50-mile radius of the listed city
• Comfort with timely completion of documentation, addendums, and medico-legal reporting

Education

• Medical degree (MD or DO) or equivalent terminal medical qualification
• Active state medical license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in interview-based clinical assessment and focused physical exam techniques
• Strong medical documentation and report-writing abilities
• Familiarity with reading diagnostics and forming concise medical opinions
• Understanding of non-treatment clinical evaluation principles and Veterans’ assessment context
• Efficient clinical workflow and provider office operations (for those using their own office)
