Shift Type: Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Day); OR Tuesday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Day). Training: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Day) for 1-2 weeks
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $127 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality primary care to adult patients in a correctional facility setting
- Perform focused history and physical exams and develop patient-centered care plans
- Manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and COPD with evidence-based treatments
- Prescribe medications safely and monitor therapeutic effectiveness in line with facility policies
- Document encounters clearly and timely in the electronic health record
- Coordinate care and referrals with facility staff, specialists, and ancillary services
- Participate in clinical training, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with correctional health protocols, safety standards, and reporting requirements
Qualifications
- MD or DO with valid and active state medical license or eligibility for CA licensure
- Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine preferred
- Active DEA registration or ability to obtain one as required
- Current BLS; ACLS preferred or able to obtain
- Experience in primary care or outpatient medicine; correctional health experience is a plus
- Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and comfort working in a multidisciplinary team
Education
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
- Completion of an accredited residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical assessment and management of common acute and chronic conditions
- Medication management and safe prescribing practices
- Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation
- Ability to work within protocols and follow regulatory and security guidelines
- Patient-centered communication and culturally competent care
- Team collaboration with nursing, mental health, and custody staff
