Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide, plan, direct, and evaluate total nursing care for Emergency Department patients under limited supervision
• Perform timely triage and prioritize care based on patient condition and clinical data
• Administer medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and safely
• Assess patients’ physical, psychological, educational, and discharge needs and create individualized care plans
• Document care accurately, concisely, and in a timely manner to ensure continuity and quality
• Respond calmly and effectively in emergencies and support the team during high-stress events
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively across shifts for continuity of care
• Participate in orientation, in-service training, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance department practice

Qualifications

• Current Iowa licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Healthcare Provider BLS required
• ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification required
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well
• Emergency Department nursing experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and triage skills in the ED setting
• Proficient in medication administration and IV therapy
• Skilled in care planning, documentation, and accurate reporting
• Infection control practices and adherence to hospital policies
• Calm, resourceful emergency response and critical thinking
• Effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to prioritize workload
