Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans focused on orthopedic and post-surgical recovery
- Deliver skilled OT interventions to improve ADLs, mobility, and functional independence in acute and long-term care settings
- Collaborate with surgeons, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
- Provide patient and family education on recovery expectations, home safety, and adaptive techniques
- Document assessments, treatment progress, and outcomes accurately in the medical record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and help grow therapy services in a small hospital environment
Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist in Colorado or eligible to obtain Colorado licensure
- Experience or strong interest in orthopedics, surgical practice, and long-term care; experience in a Critical Access Hospital is a plus
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfortable with documentation in electronic medical records and strong clinical reasoning skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Able to work Monday-Friday daytime schedule as outlined
Education
- Entry-level OTD or Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) preferred, or equivalent degree required for licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Orthopedic rehabilitation and post-operative protocols
- Assessment and treatment of ADLs, transfers, mobility, and functional independence
- Splinting, adaptive equipment recommendations, and activity modification
- Long-term care interventions and resident-focused care planning
- Strong clinical documentation and outcome tracking
- Patient and family education with a compassionate approach
