Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care across the assigned unit
- Perform thorough assessments, create and update care plans, and document clinical findings accurately
- Administer medications and treatments safely and according to policy
- Respond effectively to emergencies and escalate concerns to the interdisciplinary team
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate high-quality care
- Complete Trinity specialty competency testing and the Trinity skills checklist to maintain clinical excellence
- Maintain compliance with required licenses, certifications, and health screenings
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and support a culture of patient safety
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Iowa license or ability to obtain state licensure)
- BLS (required)
- ACLS (required)
- TNCC (required)
- NIHSS certification (required)
- Successful completion of license/certificate verification
- Ability to complete required health screenings: fit test, Trinity 10-panel drug screen, and required immunizations
- Comfort with rotating schedules including every 3rd weekend and holiday coverage
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Trauma nursing principles (TNCC) and acute care experience
- Stroke assessment and NIHSS proficiency
- Advanced cardiac life support skills (ACLS) and BLS competency
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
- Infection control best practices and adherence to screening/immunization requirements
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy abilities
- Willingness to complete specialty competency testing and ongoing skills validation
