Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver skilled occupational therapy interventions that help patients regain independence and reach meaningful goals
- Perform thorough assessments and create individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate closely with nurses, therapists, and physicians to coordinate patient care
- Document patient progress clearly and timely in the medical record
- Educate patients and caregivers on techniques, adaptive equipment, and home safety
- Maintain therapy equipment, ensure a safe treatment environment, and follow facility policies
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
- Active state OTA license or eligible for licensure in California
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification (or willing to obtain)
- Clear background check and immunizations per facility policy
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit
- Previous experience in rehab, skilled nursing, or outpatient settings is a plus
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (Associate degree or OTA diploma)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills for adult rehabilitation
- Skilled in therapeutic techniques, ADL training, and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Comfortable with accurate, timely documentation and use of electronic medical records
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
- Good time management, organization, and patient-focused communication
