Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' functional abilities and develop individualized occupational therapy plans
- Implement evidence-based interventions to improve daily living and work-related skills
- Document progress clearly and timely to support continuity of care and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with PT, SLP, nursing and case management to create cohesive rehab plans
- Train patients and caregivers in adaptive techniques, assistive devices and home safety
- Monitor outcomes and adjust treatment plans to maximize patient independence and quality of life
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute clinical expertise
Qualifications
- Current, active Occupational Therapy license in California (required)
- OTR or equivalent certification recognized in the state
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification (preferred/required per facility policy)
- Comfort working day shifts with coverage that includes weekends as scheduled
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills and collaborative mindset
Education
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (Master’s in OT or OTD preferred; entry-level OT degrees accepted per facility requirements)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL/IADL assessment and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Familiarity with rehabilitation protocols for post-acute and contract rehab populations
- Excellent clinical documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) skills
- Ability to educate patients, families and care teams in an approachable way
- Time management and caseload prioritization to deliver high-quality care
